Tocqueville Society Award Criteria

The annual Tocqueville Society Award is presented to a Tocqueville individual member or couple who exemplifies outstanding civic leadership by:

  • Providing volunteer leadership in the arena of health and human services
  • Demonstrating sustained service over a period of three or more years in multiple community efforts
  • Building human capacity by inspiring and motivating others to serve as civic leaders
  • Providing creative and innovative strategies to increase donor and volunteer engagement
  • Having tangible community impact resulting from their efforts
  • Embodying the mission of United Way
