Margie and Pete Ankeny

Margie and Pete Ankeny have long been dedicated community leaders in the Twin Cities and have decades of service behind them.

Through United Way they have played many roles: Peter was the 1985 Campaign Chair and a long-time member of the Minneapolis United Way board of directors.  Margie served on the United Way Cabinet for several years beginning in 1971 as well as served on the Children and Families Impact Committee. Both have served on numerous development committees over the years.

Margie and Pete were founding members of the Minneapolis United Way Cornerstone Program for $10,000 gifts, which helped build the foundation of what the Greater Twin Cities United Way Tocqueville Society is today.

They have also been long-time supporters of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota Medical School, with a special interest in the Macular Degeneration Center.

Other organizations they have been involved with include Courage Center Foundation, Minnesota Orchestra Association, Dale Warland Singers, Macalester College Board, Minnesota Medical Foundation, The Blake School, Minnesota Historical Society, the Guthrie Theater and the Wayzata Community Church.

United Way is honored to celebrate this couple who have inspired many others to serve the community as well.
