United Way Commemorates the Retirement of Dawn Schnickels-Johnson, Communications Workers of America Local 7200 Biz O'Mara and Dawn Schnickels-Johnson

An active United Way volunteer since the mid-1970s, Dawn has served on labor committees since their inception and was largely instrumental in the success of the Communications Workers United Way campaign at Qwest, formerly Northwestern Bell. As a member of the Labor Stratgeies Commitee, she worked to gain clearance within the national communications system to allow for the use of United Way 2-1-1.

Dawn is an avid community advocate and strong United Way supporter. We wish her the best for an enjoyable and relaxing retirement. Thanks Dawn!

Thanks for a Successful Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 8!

Stamp Out Hunger logo

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive. With your help over the last 18 years the drive has collected more than one billion pounds of food!

Initial 2010 results show that almost 20 million pounds of food were collected across the nation. In addition, Campbell Soup Company donated one can of soup to Feeding America for each of the 32,254 people who liked the drive’s Facebook page. In the Twin Cities more than 2,000 letter carriers picked up food donations which were delivered to United Way partner Second Harvest Heartland.

United Way and the National Association of Letter Carriers partner each year to put on the largest annual one-day effort to combat hunger in the U.S.
