Community Issues

• Getting to vital services can be difficult. Rising gas prices make transportation more expensive, especially for low-income families, who must choose between driving to work or buying food.

• Some community members are isolated both geographically and emotionally.

• Methamphetamine use is a growing problem.  Every day, services like child protection and safe housing programs are affected.

Our Response

• Ways to Work, a partnership with The McKnight Foundation, provides car loans to qualified working poor families.
• Last year, 677,600 meals were served to people in need throughout the nine-county region by United Way-supported programs.
