Community Issues

  • The number of Carver County residents age 55 and older is expected to grow dramatically, increasing the need for housing options such as assisted living, public transportation and other services for seniors.
  • Last year, Carver County residents made 623 calls to United Way 2-1-1™, a community resource and referral line. More than half of calls were for basic needs like rent assistance and help paying utilities.
  • In 2004, about 900 families per month used the food shelf at Scott-Carver-Washington CAP Agency, Inc., a United Way partner agency.

Our Response

  • Nurse visits, meals, respite care and home health aides to seniors are provided by United Way partner agencies like Carver County Community Social Services.
  • United Way 2-1-1™ is a free and confidential resource and referral line available 24/7.  Just dial 2-1-1.
  • Last year, 677,600 meals were served to people in need throughout the nine-county region by United Way-supported programs.
