Start Saving Tierra

Start Saving is a matched savings program designed to help people buy their first home, pay for education or start / upgrade a business.

Every dollar put into the account is matched by three dollars.

Eligibility

  • 18 years or older
  • Minnesota resident
  • Household income is at or below:
    1 person = $19,600
    2 people = $26,400
    3 people = $33,200
    4 people = $40,000

Program Requirements

  • Save $40 per month in a special savings account, also called an individual development account (IDA).
  • Enroll in financial education classes to reduce debt, repair credit and meet savings goals.
  • Meet with a coach for support in reaching financial goals.

Contact any of the Family Assets for Independence Minnesota (FAIM) agencies and ask for the FAIM coordinator.
