Program Manager—Children & Families

Responsibilities

This Exciting role will be responsible for ensuring measurable results against the goal of increasing the number of third-graders from low-income families reading at grade level to 80% by 2012.

This position will build expertise and create a depth of knowledge about literacy and academic achievement with a focus on elementary age students and the human services and education systems.  Responsibilities also include grant development, management of programs and initiatives, community leader, conduct research and analyze data specific to Literacy and academic achievement and also build relationships with a variety of stakeholders to assess the most pressing issues in our service area.  Additional responsibilities will include creating and reviewing “requests for proposals” from agencies, and making funding decisions.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required in human service, communications, social sciences, elementary education or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years work related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years program management/development experience.
  • Experience with collaborative partnerships.
  • Experience in analyzing data.
  • Experience in group facilitation skills and utilizing a team approach to solving issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of human service delivery and education systems.
  • Experience working with a variety of cultures
  • Volunteer management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the nine county Twin Cities region and work some evenings and weekends.
