Director—Public Relations & Communications

Do you want to provide your creative marketing expertise and make an impact in the community? Are you interested in reshaping the image of a trusted brand? Then, we're looking for you!  We need a dynamic marketing professional to take us into the next chapter of United Way’s success story.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the overall public relations, communications and perception of United Way.  

  • Generate interest in and understanding of United Way’s mission and impact through multiple relationships and marketing channels.
  • In charge of creative communication of United Way’s value to the community to key audiences including community partners, key influencers, volunteers and service recipients through established and new marketing channels.
  • Oversee the functions of media relations, marketing communications and internal communications.
  • Manage a team of professionals

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in marketing, public relations and/or communications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or similar field
  • Proven experience in:
    • Building, communicating and executing marketing plans
    • Creative marketing and positioning of an organization and its products
    • Leading and managing a marketing team
    • Public relations including sensitive issue management
  • Proven ability to leverage marketing strategies and budgets by developing key relationships
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Advertising process knowledge
  • Budgeting and resource management skills
