Director—Diversity and Inclusion

The director of diversity and inclusion develops and implements United Way’s internal and external inclusiveness efforts and ensures strategies are aligned with United Way’s mission and vision and values.

This includes collaborating and supporting stakeholder groups to achieve desired outcomes, developing training for managers and employees to heighten awareness and building ownership and collaboration with human resources to align inclusiveness strategies with HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and execute and/or oversee the implementation of United Way’s inclusiveness efforts.
  • Consult, collaborate and provide direction to senior leaders and departments on the integration and alignment of inclusiveness into all business systems.
  • Actively lead and/or collaborate and support external diversity initiatives and stakeholder groups in the community.
  • Develop and monitor organizational compliance with federal, state and local EEO/AA requirements.
  • Implement assigned programs and projects in collaboration with human resources.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in human resources or business experience with 3-5 years emphasis in diversity/inclusiveness
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development or related field
  • Ability to inspire people
  • Ability to set objectives and secure results collaboratively
  • Ability to work and coordinate activities in a cross functional environment
  • Demonstrated results in organizational assessment, planning and development and implementation of diversity/inclusiveness focused processes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, planning, influencing and process consultation/facilitation skills
  • Federal, state and local EEO/AA compliance regulation knowledge
  • General business and HR knowledge
  • MS office software product proficiency
  • Open and honest communication style
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain a diverse mix of internal and external relationships
  • Proven analytical, problem identification, problem solving, mediation and negotiation skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to act independently and responsibly in a fast paced environment
