The McKnight Foundation has provided a generous $1.2 million grant—an annual $400,000 challenge match for the next three years. This match recognizes and rewards donors for their unique philanthropic commitment to our community. Over the past three years, The McKnight Foundation has provided challenge grants in support of United Way’s work in the community.

Increase the Impact of Your Gift

1. Become a Leadership Donor with a new gift of $1,000-$4,999 and your entire gift will be matched.
   
   If you are a new Leadership Donor ($1,000 and more), every dollar will be matched.
   For example, if you pledged $750 last year, and you increase your gift to $1,500 this year, the entire $1,500 will be matched.
2. Increase your existing Leadership gift of $1,000-$4,999 (pledged in 2007) and your increase in 2008 will be matched.
   
   If you are currently a Leadership donor giving between $1,000-$4,999, your increase will be matched. For example, if you pledged $2,000 last year and pledge $3,000 this year—$1,000 (or the amount of your increase), will be matched.
3. Make a gift as outlined above in combination with a spouse’s or partner’s gift and it will be matched.
   
   If you combine your pledge with a spouse’s or partner’s gift, indicate this on your pledge form and your combination gift will be matched. You and your spouse/partner will be recognized together as Leadership donors in the United Way Recognition Book.

• All McKnight Foundation matches are directed to United Way’s Community Fund.
• Matches are limited to $4,999 per gift. The total contribution from The McKnight Foundation will be $400,000 each year for three years.
• Tax deductions are available for donor pledges only and not the entire match amount.
